Every Mama Needs One

If you’re a mama, chances are you’ve got a lot on your mind. At times you may feel scattered, lost, unproductive, and even useless.

I have felt each and every one of those things. I even felt them before becoming a mom!

One simple item has changed my life. It’s allowed me to wake up feeling excited and ready for the day. It has made me more aware of how much money I spend. It has made me feel more goal-oriented.

You may be wondering what this item is. Well, first let me tell you what it isn’t.

It’s not expensive, big, complicated, or hard to carry around. It doesn’t take time away from your precious family.

Well, what is it then?

It’s a notebook.

During our trip to Canada, I went to Marshalls (because they have pretty and inexpensive notebooks) and bought myself a notebook that I dedicated to writing down my thoughts, wish lists, projects, and more. I got tired of thinking of the millions of things I wanted to do or buy and forgetting them days later. I constantly forgot tasks that needed to get done.

And yes, I did write tasks and other things down before. But I would write them on different sheets of paper and leave them in different areas around the house. I still felt scattered and I couldn’t keep up!

Now that I have my pretty notebook, I maintain it really well and I’ve actually accomplished a lot because of how I’ve incorporated it into my daily life.

Here are several headings you’d find in my notebook if you opened it up:

  • Things I want to buy for Mariam
  • Things I want to buy for myself
  • Hair products to invest in (Hijabi hair over here!)
  • Topics for the blog
  • Home cleaning projects (because it never stays clean long enough)

When you go to buy a notebook for yourself, make sure:

  1. It can fit in your handbag or diaper bag
  2. It’s not easily destructible
  3. It’s not too small to write in
  4. It looks pretty and has the type of binding you like

Hey mama, go buy yourself a notebook this week.
